Amendment No. 2 was offered by Representative Eastman: Page 1, line 1, following "state;" (title amendment): Insert "prohibiting a state agency from accepting central bank digital currency;" Page 2, line 10: Delete "a new section" Insert "new sections" 2023-05-10 House Journal Page 1008 Page 2, line 11, following "Tender": Insert "; Prohibited Tender" Page 3, following line 2: Insert a new section to read: "Sec. 44.12.410. Prohibited tender. (a) A state agency may not (1) accept a payment using central bank digital currency; (2 ) participate in a test of central bank digital currency. (b) In this section, (1) "central bank digital currency" means a digital form of currency, a digital medium of exchange, or a digital monetary unit of account, issued and made available to a consumer by the Federal Reserve System; (2) "state agency" means (A) a department, institution, board, commission, division, authority, public corporation, or other administrative unit of the executive branch; and (B) an administrative unit of the judicial branch." Representative Eastman moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 2 be adopted. Representative McCabe objected. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 2 be adopted?"
